Alexa first discovered Pilates in 2018 at Pilates Unlimited in Auckland, and was drawn quickly to the precision and transformative depth of the classical method. After completing her Basic Seminar with New York–based teacher Cynthia Shipley, she relocated to Sydney in 2020 to train directly under Grand Master Cynthia Lochard, earning her full certification in 2021.
She has been a valued member of the teaching team at Pilates M ever since — one of the largest Romana's Pilates studios in the world — where she continues to deepen her practice through international instructors, specialised workshops, and ongoing Continuing Professional Education. Alexa is committed to guiding each client toward genuine strength, balance, and lasting well-being through authentic, classically grounded teaching.

Here are some questions answered by Alexa about Pilates.
Your first session is really about getting to know you and your body. We’ll talk through any injuries, goals, or concerns, then move through the foundational exercises so I can see how you move. By the end you’ll understand what we’re working towards and why — and you’ll have already started building the habits that make everything else possible.
Not at all. Because every session is one-on-one, I teach to exactly where you are — there’s no class to keep up with. Some of my clients have never exercised regularly before; others come from years of training in other styles. Either way, we start with the fundamentals and build from there.
I genuinely enjoy the variety — that’s one of the best things about teaching privately. What I love most is working with people who are curious about how their body works, whether they’re building strength for the first time or refining technique they’ve had for years. Seeing someone discover what their body is actually capable of never gets old.
Joseph Pilates said you’d feel the difference in ten sessions, see it in twenty, and have a whole new body in thirty — and there’s real truth in that. Most of my clients come twice a week, which is the sweet spot for building strength and retaining what you learn. Once a week still works well if you’re consistent; it just takes a little longer.
Classical Pilates follows the method exactly as Joseph Pilates designed it, passed down through Romana Kryzanowska to teachers like Cynthia. There’s a deliberate order and progression to the work — each exercise prepares your body for the next — and the original apparatus is used the way it was intended. The result is a system, not a collection of exercises, and that’s where the deeper changes come from.
