Learning from Romana Kryzanowska was one of the most transformative experiences of my life. Romana was Joseph Pilates’ protégé, and she wasn’t just a teacher – she was a force of nature. She possessed an extraordinary depth of knowledge about Joe’s work and about life itself.
Romana lived a colourful, full life, and she generously shared those experiences through her teaching. But what she taught me that changed everything was this: how to be still, how to be quiet.
In that stillness and peace, you create space for someone to truly move. You give them the freedom to experience themselves, to feel what’s happening in their bodies. With very few words and minimal actions, you can guide someone in a better direction.
This is the essence of classical Pilates teaching – not overwhelming clients with constant instruction, but creating the space for them to discover their own bodies. This wisdom, passed down from Joseph Pilates through Romana, is what we preserve at Pilates M Studio.
When you train in the authentic lineage of Pilates, you’re not just learning exercises. You’re learning a philosophy of movement, presence, and respect for the human body that has been refined over decades.
